The standard of care for determining medical malpractice is based on how a similarly qualified practitioner would have performed under the same or similar circumstances by evaluating the performance and abilities of the physicians in the general vicinity in comparison to the accused physician. Standard of care issues are a particular specialty of Pacific Evaluations. Our doctors are practicing physicians and surgeons and, as a result, are fully aware of standards that exist in their communities. Since our doctors are board certified, they are able to articulate the evidence-based medical decision-making processes that define the standard of care and prepare proper justification of opinions regarding medical treatment outcomes.
Our doctors are fully qualified for all types of Disability Reviews and know the processes and jargon for differing review systems.
A Medical Peer Review is a process whereby providers evaluate the quality of work performed by their colleagues, in order to determine compliance with accepted health care standards. This review is generally a retrospective consideration by a medical professional of equal standard. Our Peer Review Services provide an independent, unbiased opinion to address the reasonableness, medical necessity of medical services, causality and mitigating conditions of a claimant’s condition. All of our physicians have experience dealing with complex medical issues in both litigated and non-litigated cases.
We understand the shellshock that often occurs when patients receive their medical bill. To help our customers mitigate cost overruns, Pacific Evaluations offers Bill Review Services for physician, hospital or surgical invoices. Our board-certified and actively-practicing physicians examine each specific line item to determine the relevancy of each service provided and if costs are aligned with industry standards. All evidence-based reviews are prepared according to industry guidelines and defensible in courts.
Fitness-for-Duty Exams help determine whether an employee has made an adequate post-disability recovery or examine why performance has been below the standard set for the job description. Pacific Evaluation is experienced in assisting employers by offering detailed employee evaluations of job fitness by our medical specialists.
